Community Mental Health Team moves to Scone, Feb 2012
In response to a recent inquiry by the Community Council, William Nicoll of NHS Tayside has provided the following information about the Community Mental Health Team's forthcoming move from Coupar Angus to Scone:
Thank you for your enquiry regarding the North Perthshire Community Mental Health Team's move from Trades Lane, Coupar Angus to Birch Avenue, Scone.
The North Perthshire Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) provides a community based service to people aged 16-65 who experience severe or enduring mental health concerns. The CMHT covers a wide geographical area which includes the towns and villages of Stanley, Luncarty, Dunkeld, Pitlochry, Aberfeldy, Alyth, Blairgowrie and Coupar Angus and is aligned to eight GP Practices.
The date of the move has still to be confirmed but it is anticipated that the CMHT will be moving to Birch Avenue in February 2012.
We would like to reassure you that the CMHT service is not closing but that only the team base is being relocated to Birch Avenue in Scone. The CMHT will continue to provide a service to individuals in the Coupar Angus and Bendochy area with arrangements having been made with the local GP surgery at Candlehouse Lane, Coupar Angus, to ensure that the CMHT have access to consulting rooms at the surgery, should they be required. For patients who are open to the CMHT and are experiencing difficulties or are giving cause for concern we will continue to respond to their needs.
For individuals not open to the CMHT, access to support will continue to be in keeping with current practices which are either through contacting the person's GP or by contacting local the Social Worker Service. In the scenario which you cite in your correspondence the only difference will be that the concerned neighbour would phone the CMHT base rather than visit.
There will be no change to our referral processes or response times. The current procedures for accessing our service will continue to be through referrals from GP's or other professional agencies and our response times will continue to be monitored to ensure that they meet the government's Referral to Treatment Standards. Every individual who is open to the CMHT and every agency with whom we work with will be notified in writing of the date of our move and contact details. As the moving date is still to be confirmed no information has yet been sent. When a date is agreed we will endeavour to ensure that the details of our move are communicated to the Coupar Angus and Bendochy Community Council.
I hope that the above information will reassure you and the Community Council that the North Perthshire CMHT will continue to provide a safe, effective and efficient service to the residents of Coupar Angus and Bendochy.
