Presentations for Citizen of the Year and Gardens Competition 2011Coupar Angus Community Council presents awards, Sep 29 2011
by Katy Gordon, Blairgowrie Advertiser COUPAR Angus, Ardler and Bendochy Community Council held their presentation of awards in the Town Hall last Monday (September 19). Ann Campbell, chairman of Coupar Angus, Ardler and Bendochy Community Council, expressed her great pleasure in presenting Florence Smeaton with a bouquet and rosebowl for Citizen of the Year 2011. Ann said that when she first told Mrs Smeaton that she had been selected for the award, she replied that she was “just doing her job”. “This, however, is far from the whole story,” said Mrs Campbell. “Mrs Smeaton is well known for helping a multitude of local groups, and for helping hall users above and beyond the call of duty.” Mrs Campbell reminded the gathering that under new boundary changes announced by Perth and Kinross Council, Ardler will become part of the Meigle Community Council area after the forthcoming community council elections on November 3. From then they will become Coupar Angus and Bendochy Community Council. Bendochy will continue to elect its own member, and Coupar Angus will continue to elect seven representatives.
